Bayside |
Bayside, the
alternative rock band from New York, announced last month that they would be
releasing a cover EP this fall. Their last full-length album was “Killing
Time,” which was released in February 2011 (Billboard).
Since then, Bayside has been touring
with Taking
Back Sunday and the Vans Warped Tour. This
fall, Bayside is hitting the road once
again with Taking Back Sunday, who is promoting the 10-year anniversary of their album, “Tell
all Your Friends.”
With news of the cover EP, comes the news of new Bayside merchandise and bundles. Starting
today, fans can pre-order the CD along with 8 different merchandise bundles
through their online store. Various bundles include combinations of hats, scarves, hoodies, and
shirts, varying in price from $22-$120. Each bundle comes with the album, a
sticker, and a signed poster, along with whatever other items the fans select.
Bayside also
released the first song off the EP, “Be My Baby,” which was originally sung by
The Ronnetts (Absolute Punk). The song can be streamed online by clicking here.

From a music business standpoint, Bayside is doing everything a band should
do when marketing their products and their brand. They are releasing a cover EP
to hold fans over while they work on writing a new album, they are actively
posting updates about their tour dates (including information about what dates
are selling out), and they offer tiered pricing.
The very basic bundle includes a shirt, the album, poster,
and sticker for $22, reasonable for fans not looking to spend very much. One of
the higher priced bundles is $55, which includes all of the items in the $22
bundle plus a hoodie. When factoring in the actual price of a shirt and hoodie
when purchased at a show, this is a fairly reasonable price. Offering variety
is a great way to cater to the needs of the target market. Learning from
successful bands is a great way to increase fans and revenue.
